New Year New Word: Worth!

New Year New Word: Worth!

As we welcome 2022, we stop and take a deep breath and reflect on 2021. It seems as though the world has been stuck in the same place since 2019, however we know that there has still been so much change happening. Hospitals allowing doulas, COVID policies, rapid testing, vaccines, and booster shots, oh my! We are very thankful for the health of our doulas the sustainability of our business.

With a global pandemic happening and nothing to do but stay in the house, the abundance of babies is at a high! Doulas of PG County has been in business for 3 years and every year we come up with a word for our business. As we enter our 4th year, we manifest our new word: WORTH.

We realize that DPG is WORTH raising our prices, as our doulas deserve to make a livable wage to continue to make this a viable career. We also know that in order to continue to grow our agency we have to be able to maintain running it and paying the bills. We believe our service is worth every penny and our doulas are invaluable.

We are also WORTH expanding our services, as we have added a shopping concierge, sleep training, gold umbilical cord keepsakes, and our new parenting group.

Most importantly, we think our clients are WORTH it.

Our co-owner Emily stated “When I think about the health disparities experienced by Black women and birthing people, how they impact Black women across all socioeconomic strata, and the evidence that doula support does improve outcomes, it lets me know that DPG is providing a service that is not only necessary, but WORTH the investment. I believe that our clients come to us because they know their experience matters and that they are worth it! And the more people they have in their corner, Trusting them and Supporting them to make choices that are strongest, safest, and healthiest for them and their babies, the more Empowered birth becomes for everyone.”

As we move forward into 2022, we know this year will be worth the hopefulness, resiliency and dedication we go into it with.

Happy New Year!
